Researchers at Boston University crunched the numbers and found that people who drink diet soda are nearly three times more likely to experience stroke and dementia.
And drinking regular soda is NOT the answer…
Using MRI imaging and cognitive tests scientists found drinking more than 3 sodas a day results in smaller brain volume. We’re talking actual brain shrinkage here. It also accelerates brain aging which leads to poorer memory. These are all risk factors for early stage Alzheimer’s.
It doesn’t end here. There’s a long list of medical research linking artificially sweetened drinks to a slew of other health problems including depression, kidney damage and type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
If you get tired of drinking plain water, try some home-made flavored water. You can either purchase a fruit infused pitcher or just add the fruit to water. Another healthier option is organic green tea (hot or cold).
